ALCAR is N-acetyl-L-carnitine, a form of L-carnitine found ubiquitously in mammalian tissues that is important for energy production. It is important for energy production to reduce fatigue. This amino acid is known for assisting the body to convert fat into energy. Carrying fatty acids across walls of the mitochondria, where they become oxidized and used for energy. The acetylated form of L-Carnitine is known to be best used by the brain and nerves. It seems to be able to cross the blood brain barrier (BBB) and neuronal membranes to enhance cognitive function.
ALCAR can also increase L-carnitine levels in those who are deficient due to factors such as the use of certain medications, disease, age related cognitive decline.

Adults (18 and over) – Take two to four capsules daily with food, or as directed by a qualified health care practitioner. A minimum of three months may be required before observing an effect. Do not crush, blend or mix the capsules. Swallow capsules whole. Do not exceed daily dose unless instructed by a healthcare practitioner.
Consult a health care practitioner before use if • you are pregnant or breastfeeding • you have liver or • kidney disease or • you have been instructed to follow a low protein diet.
Stop use and ask a health care practitioner if symptoms persist or worsen. Feelings of overstimulation and/or sleeplessness may occur in which case discontinue use if feelings persist or worsen. Low incidences of seizures have been reported with oral doses in individuals with or without pre-existing seizure disorder. Mild gastrointestinal symptoms (transient nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea) have been reported. Body odor, flatulence, increased appetite and rash may occur.
